You are invited to attend, or send a representative, to the launch of a report by the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications on alcohol sponsorship of sporting events.
1 June 2013
The report launch takes place tomorrow morning in the A/V Room in Leinster House. The Committee heard from a wide range of opinion on the matter through public hearings in recent months.
Event: Launch of ‘Report on Sponsorship of Sports by the Alcohol Drinks Industry’
Location: A/V Room, Leinster House
Date: Tuesday, 2 July 2013
Time: 11:30 am
Committee Vice-Chairman John O’Mahony TD and other Members will be in attendance and available for questions.
Deputy O’Mahony says: “\"Last year, proposals to curb alcohol misuse were presented by a Department of Health Steering Group which included the phasing out of alcohol sponsorship of sporting and cultural events by 2016. Our Committee agreed to carefully consider the particular recommendation on sponsorship of sporting events as part of our current work programme. We thank the representatives of all organisations who came before us over the three sessions, who delivered thorough, insightful and candid presentations on this complex issue. The report we have compiled summarises these contributions and makes a series of recommendations from the Committee’s cross party membership.”
Copies will be available at the launch and the report will be published online following the event.
To attend this event you must be accredited to attend briefings in Leinster House. To arrange for accreditation for the event or for further information please contact:
