Event: Launch of ‘Review of Commonage Lands and Framework Management Plans’
Location: A/V Room, Leinster House
Date: Wednesday 17 July 2013
Time: 10:45 am

Committee Chairman Andrew Doyle TD and other Members will be in attendance and available for questions.

Deputy Doyle says: “The Committee met on seven occasions to carefully consider the NPWS recommendations, which were cause of concern to many stakeholders. Representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, the National Parks and Wildlife Service, farmers' representative bodies, Teagasc, conservation and interest groups, and individual farmers fed into the debates.

“The necessity for a common-sense approach, with farmer consultation and grounded in the wider economic realities, underpinned the Committee discussions on the issue. Consequently, we have agreed a series of recommendations which could, if implemented, positively contribute to addressing the concerns around the issues and problems regarding commonage lands identified by the stakeholders.”

Copies will be available at the launch and the report will be published online following the event.
