Enterprise Ireland to attend Jobs Committee meeting

Chief executive of Enterprise Ireland Frank Ryan will attend the meeting of the Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation tomorrow, Tuesday, 23rd July 2013 to discuss the agency’s annual report for 2012 and developments to date for the current year.

Chairman of the Committee Deputy Damien English said: “Enterprise Ireland is the government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets. Enterprise Ireland client companies achieved record exports in 2012 breaking €16 billion for the first time, up from €15.2 billion in 2011. Sectors such as engineering, software, internationally traded services and medical devices were very successful last year, with Irish companies performing well in the USA, Asia Pacific and Latin America. Tomorrow we will have an opportunity to discuss the 2012 annual report in more detail with Enterprise Ireland chief executive Frank Ryan and receive a briefing on progress by the agency in the current year.
Chairman Designate of Enterprise Ireland Terence O’Rourke will also have an opportunity to outline what he sees as the priorities and challenges for the agency.”

This Committee meeting will start at 1.30pm on Tuesday, 23rd July 2013 in Committee Room 2, Leinster House with Scrutiny of EU legislative proposals:

COM(2013)312 - Proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing the Copernicus Programme and repealing Regulation (EU) No 911/2010; and
COM(2013)404 - Proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on certain rules governing actions for damages under national law for infringements of the competition law provisions of the Member States and of the European Union
