Finance Committee to resume discussions on pre-Budget submissions

The Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform will resume its overview of 2014 pre-Budget submissions tomorrow, Thursday, 12th September 2013 when it meets with representatives from civil society groups.


The schedule for tomorrow’s meeting is:

10:00am to 11:15am – Mental Health Reform; Irish Medical Organisation; Irish Cancer Society & Irish Heart Foundation - Joint submission

11:30am to 1:00pm - The Alzheimer Society of Ireland; Irish Farmers Association; The Carer’s Association; Home and Community Care in Ireland

2:00pm to 4:00pm - Irish Congress of Trade Unions; Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed; National Youth Council of Ireland; National Women’s Council of Ireland

4:15pm to 5.30pm - Disability Federation of Ireland; Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association; Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC).

Committee Vice Chairman Liam Twomey TD said: “Tomorrow, we will resume our hearings into pre-Budget submissions from civil society groups. It’s an opportunity for us to engage with the various groups on issues raised in their pre-Budget submissions. At our meeting tomorrow we will concentrate on submissions that are considered expenditure/social in nature.”

These meetings will start at 10am on Thursday, 12th September 2013 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House 2000.
