Oireachtas Committee to resume consideration of petitions

The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions will tomorrow afternoon resume its consideration of petitions received from members of the public.

17 September 2013  

The Committee is scheduled to examine petitions on the following topics tomorrow:

  •  Provision of Good Samaritan clause in State Contributory Pension Legislation
  • Local Planning Authority Regulations
  • Foreign Driving Licence swap for Irish Driving Licence for all applicants
  • The public consultation process around the granting of Foreshore Licences
  • Policy Issues within the Defence (Amendment) Act 2007 and the Office of the Ombudsman for the Defence Forces and the Ombudsman (Defence Forces) 2004 Act
  • Perceived shortcomings in the Employment Appeals Tribunal

Chairman of the Committee Pádraig Mac Lochlainn says: \" In advance of this new parliamentary term, our Committee intends to be a robust champion of the citizens we serve. The petitions we are scheduled to consider tomorrow touch on a broad range of areas, relating to pensions, planning, offshore exploration, the defence forces and employment appeals. Our Committee will have an opportunity to carefully examine these petitions, and how best to advance the concerns they outline in relation to delivery of public services. \"

The meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 18 September in Committee Room 3, LH 2000 at 4 pm, and will commence with consideration of the petitions in private. Public proceedings will commence at 5pm and can be viewed online via this link.
