Oireachtas Hill Walk Committee to present proceeds to Rett Sydrome Ireland

18 Sep 2013, 14:34

A number of TDs and senators will this morning make a presentation to Rett Syndrome Ireland outside Leinster House tomorrow at 11:30 am.

18 September 2013

It follows their participation in a successful 2013 Oireachtas hill walk, which took place in early July in the Mourne Mountains.
The event raised over €2,200 for the association, which comprises parents and families of people affected with Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a rare neurodevelopment disorder resulting in learning and physical disability.

Event: Presentation by Oireachtas Hill Walk Committee to Rett Syndrome Ireland
Location: Kildare St Gate, Leinster House
Date: Thursday, 19 September
Time: 11:30 am

Oireachtas Hill Walk Committee Chairman Jimmy Deenihan TD says: “Early in July, Oireachtas Members and staff traversed the Mourne mountains during a variety of hikes for all abilities. Not only did the hill walk take in some breath-taking scenery, it was also an enjoyable way to raise funds for a great cause. I wish to thank all hikers and sponsors for all their efforts in raising money for Rett Syndrome Ireland. I wish to acknowledge the help of Mountaineering Ireland whose volunteers led the groups so adeptly through the distinctive landscape. I also wish to thank long-standing participants in the all-party Oireachtas hill walk Committee, Deputies Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD and Eric Byrne TD.\"

Photos will be posted on the Oireachtas social media channels following the event.
