1 Oct 2013, 17:10

The Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform will focus on COM (2013)71, a proposal for a council directive implementing enhanced cooperation in the area of a financial transaction tax, at its meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, 2nd October 2013.

Committee Chairman Ciaran Lynch TD said. “Tomorrow officials from the Department of Finance will brief and up-date the Committee on the most recent proposals for a Financial Transaction Tax. On 14 November 2012 the Joint Committee scrutinised the original proposal, however, there have been developments as Member States give the proposal consideration and this meeting affords the Joint Committee the opportunity to be brought up-to-date so the Committee can decide if further scrutiny is required. We’ll also have an opportunity to discuss decisions take at EU scrutiny sub-committee meetings of 19th June; 23rd July and 2nd October 2013.”

This meeting will start at 3pm on Wednesday, 2nd October 2013 in Committee Room 4, Leinster House 2000.
