Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Francis Fitzgerald TD, will update the Committee on Health and Children on children and youth affairs at its meeting tomorrow, Thursday, 10th October 2013.

Committee Chairman Jerry Buttimer TD said: “This meeting, which is part of our regular quarterly meetings, will provide a chance for members of the Committee to raise matters regarding children and youth issues with Minister Fitzgerald.”

Before the Committee meets with Minister Fitzgerald, we will consider a number of EU legislative proposals.

The proposals are:

Schedule A: COM(2013)472 on fees payable to the European Medicines Agency for the conduct of pharmacovigilance activities in respect of medicinal products for human use;
Schedule B: COM(2013)436 council decision on subjecting 5-(2-aminopropyl)indole to control measures

Deputy Buttimer said: “Oireachtas Committees are playing an ever more important role in the oversight of EU legislation. We look forward to considering a range of EU legislative proposals in the area of health and medicine and decide what further action to take in respect of these important pieces of EU legislation.”

The meeting starts at 9.30am on Thursday, 10th October 2013 in Committee Room 2, LH 2000. It will commence with consideration of the EU proposals in private session. The recommendations by the Committee will then be outlined in public session.
