Justice Committee to discuss EU legislative proposals

The Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality will carry out scrutiny of EU legislative proposals on the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office and on the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) tomorrow, Wednesday, 16th October 2013

Officials from Department of Justice and Equality will attend the committee meeting to discuss on the two legislative proposals: COM(2013)534;COM(2013)535

Committee Chairman David Stanton TD said: “Oireachtas Committees are playing an ever more important role in the oversight of EU legislation. We look forward to considering two EU legislative proposals in the area of justice - the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office and changes to the functions and role of the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) - and decide what possible implications these will have for Ireland.”

The meeting will start in Committee Room 2, Leinster House at 9.30am on Wednesday, 16th October 2013.
