Health Committee to focus on HIQA Corporate Plan 2013-2015

25 Nov 2013, 10:06

The Health Information and Quality Authority Corporate Plan 2013-2015 will be on the agenda of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children tomorrow, Tuesday 26th November 2013 when it meets with the authority’s Chairman Brian McEnery.

Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer TD said: “The Health Information and Quality Authority was established in May 2007. Reporting directly to the Minister for Health, its role is to promote quality and safety in the provision of health and personal social services. In September, HIQA published its third corporate plan. HIQA’s corporate plan has been developed at a time of planned changes and reforms of the health service. Given these proposed changes, tomorrow the Committee will have an opportunity to discuss in greater detail HIQA’s primary purpose and mission over the next three years, as well as its priorities and the outcomes it hopes to achieve in that period. It is also the first opportunity for the Committee to engage with HIQA’s new chairman Brian McEnery. Tomorrow Mr McEnery will have an opportunity to outline what he sees as the priorities and challenges for HIQA in the immediate period ahead and into the future.”

The meeting will start at 5.15pm in Committee Room 2, Leinster House tomorrow, Tuesday, 26th November 2013.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
