Oireachtas Committee to resume discussions on petitions received

26 Nov 2013, 17:13

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions will tomorrow afternoon consider another batch of public petitions received.

26 November 2013

The petitions relate to:

  • Investigating US Military and CIA use of Shannon airport and Irish airspace (Dr Edward Horgan)
  • Concerns about Fishing Legislation decisions (Michael Callinan)
  • Introducing Equality Budgeting (Dr Clara Fischer)
  • Concerns over inappropriate standards related to dive industry legislation (Paddy Lambe)

Chairman of the Committee Pádraig Mac Lochlainn TD says: “Our Committee looks forward to carefully considering a range of petitions received from members of the public on a range of issues, including the use of Shannon Airport by the US Military, decisions associated with fishing legislation, a call for budgets to be equality proofed and concerns around the dive industry. Committee Members continue to encourage any individual citizen or group with concerns around the delivery of public services to make a petition, which will be carefully considered by the Committee. There is a standard form which we request all petitioners to complete, which is available at petitions.oireachtas.ie and can be completed and submitted online, emailed or sent by post.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 27 November in Committee Room 4, LH 2000 at 4 pm. The meeting will commence in private session, before reverting to public session at 4:45 pm. Public proceedings can be viewed online via this link.
