Sub Committee to discuss resignation of the Coimisinéir Teanga

22 Jan 2014, 14:35

The Sub-Committee on the 20 Year Strategy for the Irish Language and Related Matters will meet with the Coimisinéir Teanga Seán Ó Curreáin to discuss his forthcoming resignation from the post.

Committee Cathaoirleach Michael McCarthy TD said: “In December, the Coimisinéir Teanga Seán Ó Curreáin announced he was stepping down from his post, citing continued failures by the State to comply with legislation on the use of Irish. As the Sub-Committee tasked with reviewing the progress that has been made to date in implementing the 20 Year Strategy, it is timely and opportune that we meet with Seán Ó Curreáin to discuss in detail his decision to resign from his post with effect from 23rd February.”

The meeting will start in Committee Room 4, Leinster House at 12.15pm on Thursday, 23rd January 2014.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
