The Action Plan for Jobs and a number of EU issues will be on the agenda of Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation tomorrow, Tuesday 28th January when it meets with John Murphy, Secretary General, Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

Committee Chairman Damien English TD said: “Tomorrow, we will receive an update on the implementation of, and priorities for, the Action Plan for Jobs 2014. Our Committee is committed to playing our part in finding new potential solutions which integrate social protection, education and job creation measures to get people back to work. Tomorrow, Committee Members will have a chance to discuss the Government’s Action Plan in detail with the Secretary General, consider the various measures and how they are working in practice, raise any issues or concerns they may have in terms of job creation and examine how our report Creating Policies That Work – Actions to Address Youth and Long-Term Unemployment can complement the Action Plan for Jobs.

“We will also have an opportunity to consider a number of EU Matters with the Secretary General, including the Departmental Six-Monthly EU Scrutiny Report (January to June 2013), while we will also receive an update on developments on COM(2013)207 which is a proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Directives 78/660/EEC and 83/349/EEC as regards disclosure of non-financial and diversity information by certain large companies and groups.”
