Health Committee to consider six-monthly EU Scrutiny Reports

Six-monthly EU Scrutiny Reports (January-June 2013 and July-December 2013) of the Departments of Health and of Children and Youth Affairs will be on the agenda of the Joint Committee on Health and Children when it meets with the Secretaries General at the Departments of Health and Department of Children and Youth Affairs tomorrow, Thursday, 8th May 2014.

Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer TD said: “Under the terms of the European Union (Scrutiny Act) 2002, Ministers submit reports to the Oireachtas every six months on developments at European Union level in their area of responsibility. The Departmental Six-Monthly EU Scrutiny Reports we will examine with the Secretary Generals tomorrow is for January-June 2013 and July-December 2013 and it summarises the key legislative and policy developments during those six monthly periods.”

The meeting forms part of a series of events taking place in the Dáil and Seanad chambers and the Oireachtas Committees to mark Europe Week.

The meeting will start at 9.30am in Committee Room 2, Leinster House on Thursday, 8th May 2014.
