Communications Committee to hear from Minister on Energy Green Paper

The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte TD will tomorrow appear before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications to discuss the recently launched Green Paper on Energy Policy in Ireland.

The Green Paper sets out a number of areas in which views are sought, including:

  • Empowering Energy Citizens
  • Markets, Regulation and Prices
  • Planning and Implementing Essential Energy Infrastructure
  • Ensuring a Balanced and Secure Energy Mix
  • Putting the Energy System on a Sustainable Pathway
  • Driving Economic Opportunity

Chairman of the Committee John O’Mahony TD says: “A progressive, sustainable and balanced energy policy is vital to Ireland’s economic prosperity. The Green Paper on Energy Policy is an important document which is intended to provoke structured public debate that will feed into Government policymaking on the matter. Tomorrow, our Committee will have an opportunity to discuss the Green Paper with Minister for Energy Pat Rabbitte TD and the parameters it lays out for this important national debate.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 4 June at 10:45 am in Committee Room 4, LH 2000. Public proceedings can be viewed here.
