Jobs Committee continues hearings on access to finance for SMEs

4 Jun 2014, 09:45

Credit union representatives and representatives from the Dublin Business and Innovation Centre will attend the Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation tomorrow, Thursday, 5th June 2014 as part of the Committee’s hearings on access to finance for SMEs.

4 June 2014

The schedule for tomorrow’s meeting is:

Session A: 10 am.
Representatives from the Irish League of Credit Unions; Credit Union Development Association (CUDA); and Credit Union Managers Association (CUMA); and

Session B: 11 am.
Representatives from the Dublin Business and Innovation Centre

Committee Chairman Damien English TD said: “The small and medium sized enterprise sectors are integral and important elements of our economy and if we are serious about our indigenous businesses we need to encourage and help create the best environment for them to operate in. The availability of funding and supports are essential for many small businesses to get up and running, flourish, innovate and expand.

Among the issues we would be keen to explore with the various representatives from the credit union movement and the Dublin Business Innovation Centre are the other sources of funding which are available to overcome an over-reliance on bank finance for businesses to start-up, expand and create much-needed jobs.”

This meeting will start at 10am on Thursday, 5th June 2014 in Committee Room 3.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
