Jobs Committee to focus on Country Specific Recommendations for Ireland with Minister Bruton

The European Commission’s Country Specific recommendations for Ireland will be on the agenda of the Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation when it meets with the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD tomorrow, Tuesday 10th June 2014.

Committee Chairman Damien English TD said: “Our meeting with the Minister is a chance for the Committee to discuss in greater detail the European Commission’s Country Specific Recommendations for Ireland. The Country Specific Recommendations are documents prepared by the European Commission for each country, analysing its economic situation and providing recommendations on measures it should adopt over the coming 18 months. They are tailored to the particular issues the Member State is facing and cover a broad range of topics: the state of public finances, reforms of pension systems, measures to create jobs and to fight unemployment, education and innovation challenges. The Commission’s recommendations to Ireland are in the areas of; public finances; health care; labour market, education and training; social inclusion; access to finance; financial sector and legal services.”

The meeting with Minister Bruton will be followed by a presentation by Migrant Rights Centre Ireland on the Employment Permits Legislation.

This meeting will start at 1.30pm on Tuesday 10th June 2014 in Committee Room 2.
