Social Protection Committee to consider Social Welfare and Pensions Bill 2014

The Dáil Select sub-Committee on Social Protection will tomorrow meet with Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton TD for committee stage consideration of the Social Welfare and Pensions Bill 2014.

Joanna Tuffy TD, Chair of the sub-Committee says: “This meeting will allow our sub-Committee consider this important piece of legislation, which includes provisions relating to strengthening residency requirements for social welfare payments, continuation of Family Income Supplement (FIS) payments, recovery of overpayments, and extending social insurance cover to certain spouses or partners of self-employed persons. We look forward to engaging with Minister Burton on the Bill, which is at the third stage of the five-stage legislative process.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 11 June at 1 pm in Committee Room 3, LH 2000. Watch it live here.
