16 Jun 2014, 10:37

Measures to support business growth and job creation and their retention in town and village centres will be the focus of the Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation at its meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, 17th June 2014

The schedule for tomorrow’s meetings is:

Session A: 1.45 pm
Retail Ireland; and

Session B: 3 pm
Retail Excellence Ireland

Committee Chairman Damien English TD said: “We’re looking forward to our meeting with representatives from Retail Ireland and Retail Excellence Ireland when we will consider measures to support business growth and job creation and their retention in town and village centres. We will be keen to get their perspectives on the various measures and guidelines they would like to see implemented to attract shoppers, boost trade and breathe new life into town centres which in turn will lead to business growth and job creation. It’s also a chance for Committee Members to consider the concerns of retailers and the challenges they face in sustaining, developing and growing businesses in town and village centres. It is important that we as a committee with a remit in the area of jobs, enterprise and innovation continue to play our part in contributing to achieving progress on the subject of job creation and business growth in town centres and finding new potential flexible and sustainable solutions to town centre rejuvenation.”

This meeting will start at 1.30pm on Tuesday, 17th June 2014 in Committee Room 2.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
