Committee on Health and Children to consider adoption in Ireland

25 Jun 2014, 16:06

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Health and Children will tomorrow consider adoption in Ireland with a range of key stakeholders.

25 June 2014

Representatives from the Children’s Rights Alliance, the Adoption Rights Alliance, the International Adoption Association (Ireland) and the Adoption Authority of Ireland will address the Committee.

Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer TD said: “Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to engage with a range of organisations working on issues related to adoption in Ireland. Adoption in Ireland is regulated by the Adoption Authority of Ireland, which is an independent, statutory body appointed by Government. As well as hearing from representatives of the AAI on their work, we look forward to engaging with the Children’s Rights Alliance, the Adoption Rights Alliance and the International Adoption Association (Ireland) on their perspectives on issues related to adoption in Ireland today.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Thursday 26 June in Committee Room 2, LH 2000 at 9:30. Public proceedings can be viewed online here.
