Health & Children Committee to meet chief executive of Tusla

24 Sep 2014, 17:37

The targeted services of the children and family agency Tusla will be the focus of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children tomorrow, Thursday, 25th September 2014 when it meets with the agency’s chief executive Gordon Jeyes.

Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer TD said: “The Child and Family Agency is now the dedicated State agency responsible for improving wellbeing and outcomes for children. Its services include a range of universal and targeted services, including child protection and welfare; alternative care; family and community support; educational welfare services; and services to deal with domestic, sexual and gender-based violence. Tomorrow, Tusla’s chief executive Gordon Jeyes will appear before the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children when we will examine the range of targeted services in greater detail. It offers members a chance to question Mr Jeyes on the child protection, early intervention and family support services that the agency offers, as well as raising any issues they may have in relation to its targeted services.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 2, Leinster House at 11.15am tomorrow, Thursday, 25th September 2014.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
