Public Service Oversight Committee to meet Ombudsman on role and remit

30 Sep 2014, 14:45

The Ombudsman Peter Tyndall will appear before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions tomorrow afternoon to discuss the role and remit of his Office.

30 September 2014

The engagement forms part of a series of meetings between the Committee and statutory oversight bodies, which began with the Pensions Ombudsman Paul Kenny last week.

Chairman of the Committee Pádraig Mac Lochlainn says: \"This Committee has a formal role engaging with the Ombudsman and tomorrow’s meeting is valuable opportunity to discuss with Peter Tyndall to discuss the role and remit of his Office. Mr Tyndall succeeded Emily O’Reilly as Ombudsman in late 2013 and we look forward to engaging on his work in upholding and championing citizens' rights in the delivery of public services.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow afternoon Wednesday 1 October in Committee Room 3, LH 2000 at 4 pm. Public proceedings can be viewed online here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
