Foreign Affairs Committee to meet with West Bank Ecumenical Group

The EAPPI is a programme of the World Council of Churches that brings international human rights monitors to the West Bank. It describes its vision as a future in which the occupation of Palestine has ended and both Palestinians and Israelis enjoy a just peace with freedom and security based on international law.

Chairman of the Committee Pat Breen TD says: “The work is the EAPPI is based around the placement of observers in Palestinian towns and villages with a view to interacting between Palestinians and Israelis in order to strive for a just peace. At tomorrow’s meeting, our Committee will have the opportunity to hear about the experiences of people on the ground who seek to offer assistance to the local population by monitoring the human rights situation and moderating local conflicts. The Committee looks forward to engaging with EAPPI representatives on their work in the West Bank and hearing their perspectives on how a lasting peace might be secured.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow 10 December 2014 in Committee Room 1, LH 2000 at 2:30 pm. Public proceedings can be viewed online here.
