Environment Committee to meet with the local government groups on draft planning bill

The Environment Committee will continue its pre-legislative scrutiny on the General Scheme of the Planning and Development Bill tomorrow, Tuesday, 27th of January 2015, when it will hear from a number of interested parties and representative organisations.

Representatives from Dublin City Council; Cork County Council; Leitrim County Council; the Association of Irish Local Government and the Local Authority Members’ Associations will each make statements to the Committee outlining their thoughts on the draft Planning and Development Bill.

Committee Chairman, Michael McCarthy, TD, said: “The Planning and Development Bill is a vital piece of draft legislation offering, as it does, the potential for reform of the Irish planning system. Collaboration is key to making progress in this area and the Committee greatly welcomes the opportunity to engage with local authority groups and to continue its pre-legislative scrutiny of the draft Bill.”

The meeting will start in Committee Room 4, LH 2000, at 2:15 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, 27th of January 2015.
