Environment Committee to meet with Pyrite Resolution Board

9 Feb 2015, 15:07

Representatives from the Pyrite Resolution Board will appear before the Environment Committee tomorrow, Tuesday10th of February, in order to make statements regarding the Board’s work to date and its latest Progress Report.

9th February 2015

Committee Chairman, Michael McCarthy, TD, said: “Pyrite has caused devastating damage to thousands of homes across Ireland. Cracking, splitting and buckling of foundations, walls, floors and ceilings have been reported in houses affected by pyrite expansion. As a result, families have suffered severe financial and psychological hardship in trying to deal with the impact on their homes. This Committee takes very seriously its responsibility to these families and as such, are very keen to engage with the Pyrite Resolution Board on their latest report. We hope to see progress being made and it is imperative that adequate support is given to those dealing with the consequences of pyrite in their homes.”

The meeting will start in Committee Room 4, LH 2000, at 2:15 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, 10th of February 2015.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

The meeting will also be broadcast live on Oireachtas TV on Sky Channel 574; UPC Channel 207 and eVision Channel 504.
