Transport Committee to meet representatives of Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus Regional (Stobart Air)

17 Feb 2015, 09:17

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet today, Tuesday, February 17th at 5pm, when it will hear from representatives of Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus Regional (operated by Stobart Air) on the possible sale of the Government stake in the company.

Appearing before the Committee will be:

  • Colm Barrington - Chairman, Aer Lingus.
  • Stephen Kavanagh - Chief Executive Designate, Aer Lingus.
  • Eduard van Wyk - Goldman Sachs.

Chairman, John O’Mahony, TD said: “Todaythe Committee will continue its engagement with relevant interest groups regarding the possible sale of the Government stake in Aer Lingus. Aer Lingus recently expressed support for the IAG bid and the Committee believes it is important to hear their point of view. The purpose of our previous meetings with union and industry groups as well as with IAG CEO, Willie Walsh, has been to facilitate an open debate of the issues surrounding a sale. Today’s meeting with Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus Regional will continue to inform that process and the Committee looks forward to another robust discussion.”

The meeting will start in Committee Room 4, Leinster House, Tuesday, 17th February 2015 at 5pm. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
