Transport Committee to be briefed on EU Council of Energy Ministers’ meeting

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet with Alex White, TD, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources tomorrow, to receive a briefing from him following the EU Council of Energy Ministers’ meeting.

The Committee meets in Committee Room 2 at 5.45p.m, tomorrow Tuesday, 31 March 2015.

Minister White attended the Council of Energy Ministers in Brussels on the 5th of March and the meeting included discussions on the recently published EU Commission Energy Union Package.

Chairman, John O’Mahony, TD said: “The Committee welcomes the chance to discuss developments at the recent EU Council of Energy Ministers’ meeting with Minister White. Of particular interest to Members will be any possible price increases in gas and oil, as well as any changes to energy policy overall. We look forward to an informative discussion as to how EU energy policy could impact Irish interests.”

The meeting will start in Committee Room 2, Leinster House, on Tuesday, 31st March 2015 at 5.45pm. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
