Transport Committee to discuss Minerals Development Bill

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet with officials from the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources tomorrow, to discuss the Minerals Development Bill 2014.

The Committee meets in Committee Room 3 at 9.30am, tomorrow Wednesday, 1st April 2015.


Chairman, John O’Mahony, TD said: “The regulation of exploration and mining in Ireland is an issue of significant concern to the Committee. The Minerals Development Bill 2014 aims to consolidate the existing legislation and bring certain aspects in line with current best practice; as such it will be a lengthy consolidation Bill.”


“The Committee looks forward to engaging with the Minister on this very important Bill and to contributing towards responsible mining and exploration practices in Ireland.”


The meeting will start in Committee Room 3, Leinster House, on Wednesday, 1st April 2015 at 9.30am.
