EU Ombudsman Emily O’Reilly to appear before EU Affairs Committee

European Ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly, will appear before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on European Union Affairs tomorrow.

1st April 2015

The meeting will commence at 2 pm in Committee Room 2, tomorrow, Thursday, 2nd April 2015.

Committee Chair, Dominic Hannigan, TD, said: “Tomorrow’s meeting is a welcome opportunity for the Joint Committee to engage with the European Ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly, on her priorities for the remainder of her term. The meeting will allow for a broad discussion of topics relating to the Ombudsman’s commitment to ensuring citizen engagement with the European institutions.”

“The Committee will be keen to hear from the Ombudsman on the issue of transparency within the EU institution, as well as to discuss how we can encourage and foster increased participation by citizens in the EU decision-making process. We look forward to a constructive and wide-ranging dialogue with Ms O’Reilly on these and other issues.”

Tomorrow’s meeting will commence at 2 pm in Committee Room 2, Leinster House, tomorrow, Thursday, 2nd April 2015.
