Good Friday Committee to meet Minister on Stormont House Agreement

1 Apr 2015, 14:55

The outcome of the All Party Talks on Northern Ireland and the resulting Stormont House Agreement will be on the agenda of the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement when it meets with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Charlie Flanagan TD tomorrow.

1 April 2015

The Stormont House Agreement, reached in December 2014 between all parties in Northern Ireland, as well as the British and Irish Governments, covers a wide range of political, social and economic issues including finance and welfare reform; the past; flags, identity culture and tradition; parades, and institutional reform.

Chairman of the Committee Frank Feighan TD says: “The Committee has closely followed the All Party talks that took place towards the end of 2014 and warmly welcomes the resulting Stormont House Agreement. Tomorrow’s meeting is a timely opportunity to hear an update from Minister Flanagan regarding the ongoing work to secure the progress achieved in the All Party talks and the efforts being made to resolve the difficulties over welfare reforms that have arisen in recent weeks.”

Tomorrow’s meeting will commence at 10:15 am in Committee Room 4, Leinster House, tomorrow, Thursday, 2 April 2015.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

The meeting will also be broadcast live on Oireachtas TV on Sky Channel 574; UPC Channel 207 and eVision Channel 504.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
