PAC delegation to visit Dublin docklands

21 Apr 2015, 14:01

A delegation from the Dáil Committee of Public Accounts will visit a number of sites in the Dublin Docklands tomorrow afternoon to view first-hand projects which were the source of concern to the Committee at a recent meeting.

21 April 2015

Commencing with a meeting in the headquarters of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA) at Custom House Quay at approximately 3pm, the delegation will visit the Jeanie Johnston and other sites in the north and south docklands over the course of the afternoon.

PAC Chairman John McGuinness says that the Docklands visit provides an opportunity to assess a number of sites raised at a meeting with Authority representatives on 27 March. “The meeting with DDDA representatives highlighted a number of serious lapses in how taxpayers’ money was and is being spent. Concerns around the sale of number 16 Hannover Quay to U2 were raised, while the Committee also expressed serious disquiet over the management of the Jeanie Johnston project, which cost the State over €13 million in total and is now valued at just €150,000. The Committee looks forward to engaging with DDDA representatives tomorrow, before viewing various sites around Dublin’s Docklands.”

The visit takes place tomorrow afternoon Wednesday 22 April between approximately 3pm and 5pm.
