Justice Select Committee to consider Garda Síochána Bill 2015

The Dáil Select Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality will meet tomorrow afternoon to resume its Committee Stage consideration of the Garda Síochána (Policing Authority and Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2015.

12th October 2015

Minister of State, Department of Justice and Equality, Aodhán Ó Ríordáin TD, will be in attendance.

The Garda Síochána (Policing Authority and Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2015 provides for the establishment of the new independent Policing Authority to oversee the performance of the policing functions of the Garda Síochána.

The Authority will have extensive functions, many of which are currently exercised by the Government or the Minister for Justice and Equality.

The Select Committee meeting will convene at 12.30pm in Committee Room 4, LH 2000 tomorrow, Tuesday, 13th October 2015.
