PAC to begin hearings on Project Eagle with C&AG and NAMA

28 Sep 2016, 11:01

The Public Accounts Committee will begin its hearings on the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report on the National Asset Management Agency’s sale of Project Eagle when it will meet with the C&AG and NAMA tomorrow, Thursday, 29 September 2016.

The agenda for tomorrow’s meeting is:

(i) Business of the Committee; and
(ii) Examination of Comptroller and Auditor General Special Report 94: National Asset Management Agency's sale of Project Eagle
Session A: Office of Comptroller and Auditor General
Session B: NAMA

Committee Chairman Seán Fleming said: “Tomorrow, we will commence our examination of the report on Project Eagle. The Comptroller and Auditor General will be our first witness and we will have a detailed discussion with him regarding his report and the conclusions he reached. After that, we will meet with Frank Daly, Chairman, and Brendan McDonagh, Chief Executive, NAMA. The sale of NAMA’s Northern loanbook or Project Eagle has been a source of considerable controversy and the findings of the C&AG report, particularly that there were shortcomings in the sales process  that indicate a loss for the taxpayer. Therefore, it is important that the Public Accounts Committee examines the report in greater detail. Tomorrow will be the first in a series of meetings that the Committee is scheduling on the report. It will be an opportunity for Members to discuss the full implications of the C&AG report and put the relevant questions both to the C&AG and to the NAMA representatives.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 3 at 9am tomorrow, Thursday, 29 September 2016.
