Chair & Board of Horse Racing Ireland to appear before Agriculture Committee

The Chairman and Board of Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) will be before the Committee to answer questions on the recent reappointment of their CEO.

Committee Chair, Pat Deering TD, said: “Two weeks ago, our Committee met with Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed, to discuss the circumstances surrounding the reappointment of the HRI’s CEO. On foot of that meeting, we then asked the HRI to come before us to discuss the issue of the reappointment and how it was handled.”

“Members are concerned about potential issues around the transparency and corporate governance aspects of this reappointment. In our previous meeting, Members expressed concern over how the request by the Chairman for the reappointment was made and how that request was subsequently dealt with by the HRI board and the government.”
