Housing Committee to discuss Local & Economic Community Plans

22 Nov 2016, 15:22

Select Committee will also meet to consider Further Revised Estimates

22nd November 2016

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, at 10am to discuss the Local and Economic Community Plans.

Representatives from the County and City Management Association and the Association of Irish Local Government will be in attendance.

Committee Chairperson, Maria Bailey TD, said: “Local Economic and Community Plans play an important role in placing local government as the main vehicle of governance and public service at local level. Each local authority submits a plan, which includes a strategy and vision for their county, and how best to achieve their stated aims.”

“Tomorrow’s meeting will allow the Joint Committee to examine how these plans are contributing at a local and national level and to address any issues around their development and implementation. Members will take a holistic view of the plans and their contribution to economic and community planning.”

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 3, Leinster House at 10am tomorrow, Wednesday, 23rd November 2016.

Prior to the Joint Committee meeting, the Select Committee will meet at 9:30am to consider the Further Revised Estimates for Public Services – Vote 34 (Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government).
