Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs Committee to meet Department officials to discuss the national road network

The Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural& Gaeltacht Affairs will meet with officials from the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 January 2017 to discuss the national road network.

Cathaoirleach of the Committee Peadar Tóibín said: “Tomorrow we will discuss the input of the National Parks and Wildlife Service in the development and maintenance of the national road network, including the issue of the N59 in Galway in particular when we will meet with officials from the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. An Bord Pleanála gave development permission for the upgrade of sections of the N59, but a condition was attached that the National Parks and Wildlife Service would first have to be in agreement with the work plan before the commencement of the project.”

This meeting will start at 9am, tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 January 2017 in Committee Room 4, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
