Children and Youth Affairs Committee to meet with representatives of the City and County Childcare Committees

The Joint Committee on Children and Youth Affairs will tomorrow meet to discuss the work of the City and County Childcare Committees. The Committee will hear from Ms. Oonagh Fleming, Chairperson of Childcare Committees Ireland (CCI), Ms. Karen McCarthy and Ms. Karen O’Sullivan.

The meeting will commence at 10.00am in Committee Room 1 tomorrow, Wednesday, 3 May 2017.

Committee Chairman Jim Daly TD, said “In acting as the local agent for the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, there is no question that the important work of the City and County Childcare Committees has enhanced service provision in the early years sector. We welcome the opportunity to hear more about this work and, in particular, the function of the CCC’s in the application of the national policy framework for children & young people - ‘2014 – 2020: Better Outcomes Brighter Futures’. The five national outcomes listed in the strategy cover policy areas such as; active and healthy physical and mental wellbeing, achieving full potential in learning and development, protection from harm, economic security and the opportunity to contribute to their world.”
