Committee on the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution to address constitutional issues

The Oireachtas Committee on the Eight Amendment to the Constitution will consider constitutional issues arising from the Citizens' Assembly recommendations at its meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, 27 September.

Appearing before the Committee are: Dr David Kenny, Assistant Professor of Law, Trinity College Dublin; Professor Fiona de Londras, Chair of Global Legal Studies & Deputy Head of School, Birmingham Law School and Ms. Mary O’Toole S.C.

Senator Catherine Noone, Chair of the Committee said: “Tomorrow the Committee will continue its public hearings when we will hear from a number of legal experts who will all make presentations on the Constitutional issues arising from the recommendations made by the Citizens' Assembly. Each of the recommendations of the Citizens' Assembly is being considered by the Joint Committee as a first step in considering the likely shape of legislation both in this area and on the broader issue of the amendment of the Constitution.”

The Committee will meet at 1.30pm, tomorrow, Wednesday, 27 September 2017 in Committee Room 3, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
