Committee on the Future of Mental Health Care to meet with HSE over mental health care funding

21 Nov 2017, 16:12

The HSE will appear before the Joint Committee on the Future of Mental Health Care to discuss the funding of and budgeting for mental health services.

Representatives from the Health Service Executive (HSE) will brief the Committee on funding for mental health services, in particular children’s mental health services.

Committee Chairperson, Senator Joan Freeman, said, “Our meeting tomorrow will focus on expenditure in mental health services, both regionally and by specific mental health service. Committee Members will be keen to discuss how much money was spent in a specific service area in a specific Community Health Organisation (CHO) in any year. We will also examine the reporting relationships between CHOs and the HSE in terms of Mental Health Services expenditure, and the HSE’s own accountability to Government in this regard.”

The meeting will commence at 2pm in Committee Room 4, Leinster House.
