28 Nov 2017, 14:50

The Joint Committee on Justice and Equality will continues its hearings on the issue of the Right to Die with Dignity when it meets Professor Des O’Neill, Dr Louise Campbell, and representatives from Disability Action (NI) tomorrow, Wednesday, 29 November 2017.

Committee Chairman Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said: “Tomorrow we will resume our hearings on the issue of assisted dying and the right to die with dignity. We are all aware that this is an often controversial and sometimes emotionally charged issue where people have strongly held views. We will continue our examination of the issue taking into account the current Irish legal context, the reasons for seeking assisted death, the arguments in favour and against assisted dying and the legal situation and regulation in other jurisdictions.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 2 at 9 am on Wednesday, 29 November 2017.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
