Housing Committee to conduct Detailed Scrutiny of Local Government (Establishment of Town Councils) Bill 2017 [PMB]

The meeting will start at 9am in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Chair, Maria Bailey TD said, “Deputy Cassells’ bill aims to reintroduce Town Councils to Ireland. The Committee is open to discussion on the bill’s proposals for establishing a commission to set out the towns eligible for inclusion or designation as Town Councils. The Committee is also interested to hear in more detail about the powers to be divested to the Town Councils and how fund raising ability and budgetary matters would be managed efficiently.”
