Dr Conor Skehan to appear before Housing Committee to discuss views on homelessness

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government will meet this afternoon at 1.30pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

Session A: Detailed scrutiny of Vacant Housing Refurbishment Bill 2017 [PMB] (resumed)  [Representatives from the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland; the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland; and  Ms. Orla Hegarty, UCD]

Session B: Mr. Conor Skehan, Chairperson of the Housing Agency will engage with the committee on his role as Chair of the committee and related matters.

Committee Chair, Maria Bailey TD, said today, “At today’s meeting we will return to our scrutiny of the Vacant Housing Refurbishment Bill 2017, a Fianna Fáil PMB which aims to speed up the process of making vacant homes available for families. The second part of the meeting  will see the Committee engage directly with Dr Conor Skehan, Chairperson of the Housing Agency. In light of Dr Skehan’s recent temporary reappointment to the role, Committee members wish to discuss with him his recently articulated views on social housing waiting lists and his comments on homelessness.”
