PAC publishes its Annual Report 2017

This week the PAC laid its 2017 Annual Report before the Dáil.

Commenting on the report, the Chairman, Deputy Seán Fleming said “I welcome the publication of this report, which summarises the endeavours of the Committee to ensure that public bodies provide value for money and have efficient and effective systems, procedures and practices in place."

"The Committee carried out a huge amount of work last year. It met on 49 occasions which translated into 228 hours of sittings. 273 witnesses appeared before the Committee and engagements led to the publication of three significant subject reports following from the Committee’s deliberations. These were:

• The Examination by the Committee of Public Accounts of NAMA's sale of Project Eagle published on 15 March 2017

• The Examination of Financial Statements in the Third-Level Education Sector published on 11 July 2017

• The Examination of Matters in Relation to Financial Procedures at Garda College, Templemore: published on 18 July 2017.

Deputy Fleming concluded, “I would like to thank all the Members, the Secretariat and witnesses who appeared before the Committee during the year.”
