Finance Committee to meet with Christian Aid and Irish Taxation Institute as part of hearings on EU proposals for taxation of the digital economy

Representatives from Christian Aid Ireland and the Irish Taxation Institute will attend the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach on Thursday, 3 May 2018 as part of its hearings on EU proposals for Taxation of the Digital Economy.

Appearing before the Committee are:

Sorley McCaughey, Head of Advocacy Policy Christian Aid Ireland,
Cora O'Brien, Tax Policy Director, Irish Taxation Institute

Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD said: “On Thursday we will resume our hearings on EU proposals for taxation of the digital economy. As Ireland may be significantly impacted by these proposals the Committee is currently examining the issue in detail with various stakeholders. We will hear from Christian Aid Ireland which has welcomed the EU proposals, and also from the Irish Taxation Institute which has warned that the proposals could lead to uncertainty and disputes. We will be keen to get their perspectives on the proposed tax reforms and how they may impact on Ireland.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 2, Leinster House at 9.30am on Thursday 3 May 2018. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
