Communications Committee resumes scrutiny of Online Advertising and Social Media (Transparency) Bill

The Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment will carry out detailed scrutiny of the Online Advertising and Social Media (Transparency) Bill 2017 on Wednesday, 27 June 2018.

Appearing before the Committee are:

Officials from Dept. of Communications, Climate Action and Environment
Officials from Dept. of Housing, Planning and Local Government
Representatives from Google
Representatives from National Union of Journalists  

Chair of the Joint Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment Hildegarde Naughton TD said: “This private members Bill sponsored by Deputy James Lawless provides for transparency in the disclosure of information in online political advertising. At our meeting we will continue our scrutiny of the Bill in greater detail with a range of stakeholders.”

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 3 from 1.30pm. You can watch committee proceedings here.
