Finance Committee to discuss Law Reform Commission report with Justice Laffoy

26 Feb 2019, 09:55

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will discuss the Law Reform Commission’s Report on Regulatory Powers and Corporate Offences on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m.

The President of the Law Reform Commission, Ms. Justice Mary Laffoy, and other Commissioners will address the Committee.

The LRC Report on Regulatory Powers and Corporate Offences, published in October, contains many recommendations aimed at raising accountability standards in the corporate sector, including financial institutions.

“The public and regulatory accountability of Irish banks needs to be strengthened on many fronts,” said Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD. “As the Government considers its legislative options to improve the corporate governance and accountability in the banking sector, the Committee will consider the key LRC recommendations in this area.”

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live here.
