The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 11 July with officials from the Houses of the Oireachtas Service n Leinster House, Committee Room 3 at 9am.

The focus of the PAC’s examination will be the 2018 Accounts of the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission.

The primary responsibility of the Commission is to provide for the running of the Houses of the Oireachtas. It is the governing body which oversees the delivery of services to the Houses of the Oireachtas, their Members and members of the public.

The accounts of the Commission show that expenditure of €134.4m was incurred in 2018. Officials from the Houses of the Oireachtas service will be questioned on matters relating to the 2018 accounts.

We will be asking how the Commission satisfies itself that value for money is being maximised vis-à-vis  the amount of public funds provided annually to it.”
