Climate Action Committee to discuss measures to decarbonise

1 Oct 2019, 15:42

The Joint Committee on Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, to examine some of the measures that citizens and communities can take to decarbonise.

Three organisations will appear before the Committee, representatives from Global Action Plan; Templederry Community Windfarm and Community Renewable Energy (CRES);  and the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU).

In advance of the meeting, Committee Chair, Hildegarde Naughton TD, said: “The Committee has engaged on matters related to Carbon Tax and decarbonisation with witnesses to-date, and it is important that we further examine measures we can all take to decarbonise.

“Specifically, we will explore how citizens/consumers can optimise energy use and generation, and make savings, through Smart Meters and Microgeneration. Furthermore, we will look at  Sustainable Energy Communities. The Committee previously examined the topics of  housing and retrofitting”, added Deputy Naughton TD.

The meeting will start at 2pm in Committee Room 3, Leinster House. Watch live here
