9 Dec 2019, 15:40

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) with Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed TD, for a briefing on EU Agriculture and Fisheries (AGRI FISH) Council meetings.

At the meeting at 5.15pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House, Minister Creed will update the Committee on the AGRI FISH meeting held on 18 November and the next meeting due on 16 December. The Minister will also update members on the Department’s Sea Fisheries Sustainability Impact Assessment and the current state of play of negotiations on the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) post-2020.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Chairman Pat Deering TD said: “Minister Creed is currently involved in two important sets of negotiations with his fellow EU ministers on Ireland’s fish quota for next year and the shape of the next round of CAP funding from 2020. Members look forward to hearing his update from last month’s meeting of the Council of Ministers, as well as the Minister’s analysis of both sets of negotiations ahead of next week’s meeting.”
