Committee on Transport and Communications Networks to discuss Review to Renew: the public consultation element of the National Development Plan.

22 Feb 2021, 15:01

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications Networks will meet tomorrow when it discusses Review to Renew: the public consultation element of the National Development Plan.

Tomorrow’s meeting will be streamed live on Oireachtas TV and begins at 4pm in Committee Room 3, when Eamon Ryan, Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications, and Transport appears.

Speaking in advance of the meeting, Committee Chair Kieran O’Donnell, TD, said: “This will be the fourth meeting on the topic over the last four weeks, following on from the appearance of the National Transport Authority and Transport Infrastructure Ireland two weeks ago.”

The National Development Plan 2018-2027 (NDP) sets out a 10-year programme of capital investment aimed at upgrading Ireland’s infrastructure, enhancing economic capacity and promoting balanced regional development.

Chair O’Donnell added: “With just a matter of days until the public consultation phase on the current review of the National Development Plan concludes for submissions, the Committee continues to place this very important topic to the fore in its work, public transport is a vital part of our lives which needs to be scrutinised. Tuesday’s meeting will assist with our submission which the Committee is actively working on, one which will feed into the overall review of the NDP.”
